90-Second Review:

The Asus Zenbook A16 successfully breaks the difficult equation by delivering impressive performance within an exceptionally thin and lightweight chassis, making it stand out clearly among 16-inch competitors in terms of portability. Aesthetically, the “beige” color adds a modern touch that moves away from traditional laptop colors, complemented by a unique patterned design on the lid that gives it a distinctive visual identity.

Striking Design Identity:

Moreover, it features an eye-catching appearance; the beige color of my review unit was a refreshing change from the dark tones commonly seen on many laptops, while the speckled pattern on the lid adds extra charm, making it one of the best laptop choices if you are looking for a unique design.

“Ceraluminium” Technology:

In terms of build quality, the laptop offers a sturdy chassis that resists flex despite its lightweight design, along with a lid that can be adjusted with precision and ease. Asus also made use of every millimeter on the front by minimizing the bezels, placing the large display at the center of attention.

Connectivity Ports:

Despite its slim chassis, Asus managed to deliver a well-rounded selection of connectivity ports. The laptop includes three USB ports (two USB-C ports and one USB-A port), in addition to an HDMI output and a headphone jack. A pleasant surprise for photographers is the inclusion of a full-size SD card reader, a feature that has become quite rare in this category.

Technical Critique:

• A comprehensive port selection that outperforms many competitors; however, poor placement is a drawback, as concentrating charging and display ports on one side reduces the flexibility that professionals would expect from a device in this class.

• Excellent performance for office tasks and 4K entertainment, but it lacks the power required to run major games. The integrated graphics performance is relatively weak, causing it to fall slightly behind competing devices in the same category.

Technical Specifications:

Displayu:

The standout feature of the Zenbook A16. The ultra-sharp 3K resolution is perfectly suited to the screen size, while OLED technology ensures deep contrast and vibrant color reproduction. It also offers high brightness levels, helping to minimize distracting reflections and preserve a comfortable viewing experience.

Touchpad:

The Zenbook A16’s touchpad is highly practical. Its large surface area makes navigation easier, while the useful gesture controls on the sides are both convenient and efficient.

Batter life:

Battery life is also impressive; the Zenbook A16 lasted a full 20 hours in our movie playback test, which is significantly longer than comparable models.

Keyboard:

Thanks to its smooth key action and well-spaced layout, the keyboard is easy to use. The key travel and damping are slightly more pronounced than what is typically found in laptop keyboards, enhancing the tactile response and feedback. However, it is disappointing that there is no number pad, along with a limited set of navigation keys.

Design Highlights:

• The Asus Zenbook A16 features striking design touches, most notably the “beige” color option, which offers a refreshing departure from the monotonous traditional colors that dominate the laptop market. While a classic gray version is also available, this shade gives the device a unique and refreshing visual identity.

• The Zenbook A16 is built using Ceraluminum, a material that offers superior aesthetics and a smoother feel compared to conventional metal finishes. Asus also adds a creative touch to the lid with a speckled pattern that resembles the texture of paper, resulting in an exterior design that blends engineering innovation with visual appeal. • However, the standout aspect of the Zenbook A16 is its remarkable lightness. Combined with its ultra-slim chassis, it becomes one of the most portable 16-inch laptops available. The soft, rounded edges of the base also make it more comfortable to carry and handle.

Quick Summary:

Design:

• Build quality: Solid construction with excellent hinges, though there is a slight reservation regarding the quality of the screen bezel plastic compared to the premium finish of MacBook devices.

Connectivity: A major competitive advantage thanks to USB 4 ports and the inclusion of an SD card reader, which is rare in slim laptops.

Design flaws: Concentrating most essential ports (especially charging) on the left side reduces everyday usability flexibility.

Performance:

• Excellent overall performance.
• Lacks strong graphics capability.
• Sharp and bright display.

Geekbench 6.5:

Multi-core: 15,075; Single-core: 3,779.

Crossmark:

Battery Life:

  • Outperforms competitors by a significant margin.
  • However, it still isn’t the absolute best in its class.

The battery life of the Zenbook A16 is truly impressive. When playing a movie on a continuous loop, the device managed to last just over 20 hours. This makes it significantly more durable than other large laptops, such as the 15-inch Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro.

Final ratings (out of 5):

Value: 3.7/5

Quite expensive, and competitors at the same price point are generally better overall.

Design: 4/5

Extremely lightweight Ceraluminium build, though not quite as premium-feeling as some rivals. Includes a solid selection of ports.

Performance: 4/5

Very good for everyday use, with an excellent display that handles content beautifully. However, graphics performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Battery Life: 4.5/5

Among the best for a large laptop, outperforming many competitors by a wide margin, though not class-leading overall.

Overall: 4/5

Ultra-light design and excellent display are major strengths, but average graphics performance and a high price limit its value compared to alternatives.

✅ Buy the device if…

  • You’re looking for a large display with featherlight weight: it’s rare to find a 16-inch laptop this light. Its ultra-slim design makes it the perfect travel companion without feeling like a burden in your bag.
  • Display quality is your top priority: you get an exceptional screen by all standards—wide viewing area, excellent brightness, and vibrant colors. While there are minor reflections under strong lighting, it still stands as one of the best displays in its class.

❌ Don’t buy the device if…

  • Your work relies on heavy graphics performance: if you’re a designer, content creator, or passionate gamer, this laptop may not meet your expectations. Its graphics performance is modest and can even fall behind competitors with similar integrated specifications.
  • You’re on a tight budget: the Zenbook A16 is undeniably expensive, and there are alternatives available at the same price that offer better performance and more premium designs.

A Worthy Alternative:

Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro: Premium design and strong integrated performance

If “premium feel” is what drives your decision, the Galaxy Book6 Pro is an excellent choice. It stands out with its solid metal chassis, delivering a far more luxurious feel than the Zenbook A16. On the technical side, it also offers stronger performance, particularly in graphics processing, despite still relying on integrated graphics.

Downside: It comes with a very high price tag that may not suit everyone.

Mayfair Select Tip:

This device is the “king of mobility” for users who need a large screen for office work and productivity, but it is not a “workstation” for heavy video editing or demanding gaming.
